Our DTP Team can create and compose documents for you in any shape, form or language you may need. We can even do Arabic in Publisher.

Quality Control
Our staff translators know our clients' style guides by heart and make certain that our freelancers follow them, too. They continuously train and advise our freelancers.

Not only do we translate the text but also provide freelancers with important feedback. This helps the translator to understand exactly what he is doing wrong.

Engineering
Our localization engineers adapt products for the intended region. They can change Caucasian family to an Oriental one in a photo or flash animation and also dub in new audio tracks with subtitles to videos in various languages.
Project Management
Project managers accept client orders, determine their requirements, and distribute tasks to various vendors. They keep track of projects to see that deadlines are observed, and also answer our linguists' questions and generally help them resolve any problems that may arise.

At least five separate people are required to translate a document into just one language. Localizing a document for ten languages means hundreds of unread messages every morning. Our project managers personally answer vendor questions, turning to you directly on when it is truly necessary.

Languages
We specialize in the languages of the former Soviet Union and Mongolia. We also translate into European, Asian and Middle-Eastern languages. We do not work with the languages of Africa or India.
Subject Areas
We translate a variety of types of text - from wallpaper advertisements to chucker machine blueprints. We have especially profound expertise in the Life Science and Information Technologies fields.
Life Science
We are handling the localization of CT scanner documentation for Brainlab, instructions for contrast injectors for ulrich medical, and clinical trials documentation for Signant Health.

Staff translators with medical degrees handle quality control for these cases. Where necessary, they consult with practicing professional physicians with doctoral degrees in medicine. We arrange for special SME Days, where we invite experts in to our office to tell them about our work.
Information Technologies
We can translate whatever you need, whether it is an interface for your application, documentation for using it, or a web site. We know the difference between texts for users and instructions for administrators.

We support the Continuous Localization model. If your client has added a new function and needs text in the problem updated urgently in twenty different languages, we can help. We will get it done for you within twenty-four hours.
Other fields
We are ready to help in areas beyond medicine and IT. If you need to translate a site about thermal cameras or a code of conduct for staff members, we evaluate the texts and select just the right people for the job. If we don't have exactly the resources needed the job, we'll tell you that up front and recommend someone who can get it done.
Project management
Every Palex project manager has his own area of special expertise. They spend years working with particular clients and know them and their needs inside and out. For some, the most important thing is that they receive their files from us the very minute they are ready. Others are willing to wait a little longer in order if it means that their preferred linguists will be available to handle the job.

Igor Ponamorev
Manages translation of marketing and multimedia materials. Knows the importance of context and how to find it. To translate a three-word slogan, he locates links to web sites or video about the company and talks to the client to find the right information about their mission.
Tatiana Nikiforova
Responsible for all our LSP medical projects. She understands the difference between cognitive debriefing and harmonization. She assembles the right team for every project and organizes the translation workflows. She makes sure that clinical trials and tomography instructions are translated by different linguists, each using its own, separate workflow.
Karolina Shelepova
Works on Continuous Localization model projects. Ensures that translation of program interface text is ready within twelve hours. Knows the translators' schedules and manages their workloads. If someone is holding back the preparation of the files, she finds a replacement and gets the order completed on time.
Quality Management
We know what makes for a translation the client will appreciate. Managers analyze texts in order to design the optimal workflow and select the right linguists. Experts evaluate translation quality using LQA. Our clients know when their files will be ready and how much the project is going to cost.

And we don't make a secret of our procedures. Palex is ready to share our experience with the industry community and has created, in partnership with Tomsk State University, an on-line course on translation quality management.
Aleksandr Barabash, the head of our production team, talks about the on-line course on Coursera and, in general, about quality management at Palex.
Price to Value
We regularly conduct assessments of our vendors. We know not only their rates, but the quality of their work on various projects. For every project, the manager assembles the most appropriate team for the client's needs. We will never bring in expensive marketing translators to translate simple reference material. We work with vendors who guarantee the highest level of quality at competitive rates.

We recommend these chiefly when clients need a satisfactory translation without overpaying.
Inexpensive, low-quality vendors.
We offer them only for simple texts in projects where the client has to count every last cent.
Expensive, high-quality vendors.
We recommend them when we are working on projects where mistakes can cost the client its reputation.
Expensive, low-quality vendors.
We strike them from our database and never recommend them to clients.

We assembled our team just before Christmas. We were using a new and rather awkward CAT tool. We were answering hundreds of translator questions every day. Despite all that, we got the job done - we saved the client a considerable amount of money, made the deadlines, and avoided significant quality issues.

The portion of the project budget
we saved the client
Our vendor managers found dozens of new, relatively inexpensive linguists and got freelancers already in our database to agree to work at a discounted rate.
30%
The maximum time by which
a deadline was held up
Our managers kept strict control of deadlines, always keeping a pool of additional available vendors in reserve. If a translator didn't respond to a question, that translator's files were transferred to another linguist within one working day.
2days
The result of client assessment
at project completion
When the client conducted their initial LQАs, a few languages were issued a "Fail." We replaced a portion of our vendors, prepared special instructions for others, and set out to check the files using a QA tool. By the end of the project, every submission received a clean pass.
Pass
ISO Certification
Palex has received both ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 17100 certification. Every year we undergo recertification and pas supervisory audits. Everybody is a part of that, from translators to our director. For us, the QMS is more than a certificate we show our clients, it's an opportunity to improve at what we do. That's why we conduct our own quarterly internal audits.
Palex Journal
Since 2002, Palex managers have accumulated a great wealth of knowledge. We just couldn't continue to keep all that to ourselves, so we created the Palex Journal - a blog about the everyday work of managers and linguists at a translation bureau. Our staff members tell you all about how they learned to reach agreements with demanding clients and to keep their cool even when they have to produce ten translations an hour after the working day begins.

How To Make Your Client Happy With A Free Translation
Let's say you receive a letter from your client that says something like: "We need a translation - it's only five words, but our budget for the month is already exhausted. We would be grateful if you could do this one for free."
Backup Linguists
Sooner or later, I am bound to receive a message from one of our managers that reads something like this: "Maria is on vacation as of today, John is out for a couple of days for his daughter's wedding, and I have a job that's due in five hours! What do I do?!"
Who Is Responsible For Translation Quality Assurance At An LSP
At Palex, our policy on who bears responsibility for translation quality has changed several times over the last few years. At first, the translator took the blame when a client sent us bad reviews.
FAQs
FAQs
Your Office is in Siberia. Is it Easy to Work with Us If You are in Europe?
The work day for managers in our main office is shifted towards evening. They are there for you until 3 or 4pm CET. Letters or messages that arrive later than that are answered by our coordinators in Kaliningrad, Russia's westernmost city (CET +1).

If it's important for you that we be available during the US working day, write to us. We'll put together a team of managers for you.
If we come to you for TE services, how can you prove that at least two people worked on our project?
Some clients, it's true, send us their source files and get them back translated into twenty-five different languages. Engineers prepare a text to be worked on in CAT tools. Linguists translate and edit it. DTP specialists make sure the translated document looks and reads just like the original. Checkers guarantee that all the client's requirements have been met. The manager controls the process to make sure they all complete their tasks on schedule.
If we come to you for TE services, how can you prove that at least two people worked on our project?
Upon request, the project manager will issue you two versions of the project files along with blind CVs of all the linguists. In addition, every year an outside auditor confirms that our services are in conformance with all the standards of ISO 17100. That tells you that at least two linguists work on every project we undertake.
